There’s a saying in German – probably in English too – that says: Clothes make the man (or woman). You could probably interpret that in various ways. For example, it might mean being in style. And although I don’t personally like to place too much weight on whether someone is in style or not, I think it does matter to a certain extent.
Fortunately, it’s not such a big deal yet at my daughter’s grade school level. But I’m dreading a certain time in the future when she starts paying more attention to trendy clothes in her classmates and for herself. That’s not a bad thing necessarily. It just means she might not be as willing to put on those hand-me-downs if they don’t have the look that she wants.
