Business in Photography

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

I always wanted the best for my business in photography.  And of course I”m also conscious of the cost of acquiring the best equipment.  I think it’s exactly the same in any business endeavor.  You want the right tools at the right price.  A musician also demands the same like these zoom accessories from guitar center.  Because if you’re spending all your time and money replacing items that are not the best, you’re wasting time and money that could be spent on the best equipment.

beer brewing

Sunday, June 9th, 2013

We have some friends who used to make wine and who would bring us some of their home-made wine every year.  It was always a treat, and we probably even have some of their wine somewhere.  They made wine from their own grapes that they grew in their backyard.  It was a slightly ambitious undertaking, so it was with appreciation that we received their wine gifts.

We have never had the privilege of having friends who also made beer.  And obviously, we’ve never tried it ourselves.  But the process is probably not as complicated or lengthy as you’d imagine, and the availability of beer brewing kits nowadays, likely makes it a snap.

Trailer Hitch

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

We went camping a total of two times this year, which I think is a record for us.  We had a wonderful camping trip both times and were mostly prepared for the time in the “bush” (We did leave a few necessaries at home on the first trip).  One of the things that would have made it that much more enjoyable is if we had more room in the car.  That prompted me to ask my husband about a trailer – like the ones I’d seen other campers pulling behind their cars (for luggage and equipment only).

We could easily pull a trailer behind our van except for one thing – our van doesn’t have a trailer hitch like the ones I’d seen at curt trailer hitch.  I thought our van had one already.  But since we don’t, it looks like it isn’t that hard to order one of these ourselves and have it installed – for next year.

My son gets excited with fire trucks

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

Our son goes bonkers every time he hears the fire engines pulling out of the station which is just across the road from us.  He drags us to the front door so that he can see the engines roar past, lights and sirens blazing.  It’s kind of cute, but it does tend to get tiring.

Those fire trucks are always popular with the kids – especially boys – it seems.  They’re even popular without the lights and sirens – sitting outside the fire station with the mill hose unfurled and the ladders extended.

” His Acting Auditions”

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

Do you dream of making it big in some field of endeavour?  Or do you enjoy making a living for yourself and your family without the need for fame or fortune.  Or maybe you once dreamed of making a name for yourself in the field you were passionate about, but the cares of this life and the need to get a job and start earning money put the lid on your dreams.  Or perhaps, you have only just recently realized you want to jump into some new field that you never even dreamed about in your youth.

Well, what if that dream of yours is in the movies?  Have you ever wanted to get a part in a movie and even one day act alongside the legends of the big screen like Sean Connery, Tom Cruise, or Jessica Alba?  Maybe you’ve even gotten as far as acting auditions for that part you’ve been wanting for so long.  That might not be as far a leap as you imagine – especially in this hyper-connected world that we now live in.  Sometimes, it’s not just who you know, but how connected are those who you know.

It doesn’t have to be anything out there in the glare of the spotlight either.  Maybe your dream is to get involved in the movie industry in some other capacity, like cinematography, or other behind-the-scenes capacity.  It’s can all be just as fulfilling and exciting when you’re following your true dream of what you really want to be doing.

I’ve have often considered that the key to happiness is in following your dreams and discovering what really makes you get up in the morning.  Because if what you do really makes you want to get up the morning again and again without having to punch the snooze button half a dozen times, then I consider you to have arrived at your true calling.

The movie industry or a career in entertainment is that calling for many.  It’s a noble purpose to have the privilege of entertaining all of us who have our own callings in other fields and wouldn’t even dream of getting up on a stage to have millions of people watch us simultaneously.  That to most would be downright nerve-wracking and mortifying.  But anyone who craves the limelight, that is the life of an actor in the movies.

“I’m Finding Happiness”

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

What is the secret of Finding Happiness?  I suppose you could look at it from many different points of view and get many different answers to that question.  For example, what makes my two-year-old happy might be completely different from what makes me – or any grownup in general – happy (photography).  So the first thing is that is can absolutely depend on a person’s age or stage of life.

Also what makes a woman happy might be completely different from what makes a man happy.  But again, these are all just differences of perspective surely.  There must be a key that is common to all – that fits, in a general sort of way, every person alive.

When I say, ‘key to happiness’ for everyone, what else could that be but love?  Who doesn’t feel joy at being loved and also loving in return?  (Well, just for the sake of being thorough, I suppose some – but I suspect the majority all feel the same thrill of love.)

Also, who doesn’t feel a greater sense of wellness from the feeling of being loved and loving someone else in return?  (The two things are inescapably connected, like two sides of a coin.)  You can be made to feel sick – and in extreme cases even die – from negative stress of unhappiness.  (Maybe stress is just the absence of happiness).  And the opposite is also true:  You can experience greater health and physical wellbeing from the emotions arising out of happiness.  Try smiling for any length of time and see if what I’m saying doesn’t hold true.

So we see that happiness and health themselves are also connected.  One even determines the other.  This is good news because just as someone can learn or choose to love and be loved, so can a person learn to be happy.  It just takes some time and some effort is all.
