“The Theme Park Accidents”

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

It`s not an easy topic to discuss with everybody, but if you`ve suffered from someone else`s careless negligence – for example an operating physician`s mistake in surgery, a driver`s careless road fault, or even a theme park`s lack of maintenance that resulted in a ride going terribly awry and hurting passengers – then you have to talk with someone about it.  It`s too important a legal matter to just leave simmer in your past and a “hope for the best” attitude.  You must take a pro-active approach if you want to achieve any results.

Theme Park Accidents in particular seem to be more common in recent months.  Doing a quick search, I discovered at least a half a dozen accidents occurred worldwide within just the last month alone.  It appears that the worst offenders are the mobile amusement park rides that are very popular in smaller cities and towns.  Now for the most part, I suppose that travelling amusement companies that visit our area are responsible and do take care of their rides maintenance wise.  But I must admit that I do feel a little trepidation whenever I or my kids get on one of these rides.  And now that I’ve seen these reports of accidents worldwide, I’m not any more at ease – that’s for sure.

But, I’m not going to stop going to amusement parks of course.  They are a lot of fun and the kids love them.  I’m sure we will be visiting the park again next summer when our national birthday is being celebrated and we will probably take a ride on the merry-go-round.   Just because there was one incident a few years ago where the kiddie train went off the track and injured a number of people, it’s not going to stop us from taking a ride on the train either.

“The Youth Summer Camp”

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

Our daughter has never been to summer Camp.  For the last couple of years, she has spent the month of July at her grandparent’s cottage.  However, my husband`s parents just informed us that they are planning to get rid of the cottage next year.  So that means that my daughter will not have the cottage to go to for half of the summer.

When my husband was in his teens, he went to summer camp for 2 weeks every year.  He likes to tell me that when he first went to camp, he didn`t want to go.  But after that first year and every year afterwards, he couldn`t stop talking about the great time he had – canoeing, swimming, going on overnight camping trips, eating in the great hall and so many other things.

Like my husband, when he was younger, going to summer camp might be a source of trepidation to many other kids of that age.  But I`d say that most kids soon discover that they don`t want to leave once they`re there.

In the case of my daughter, I have no doubt that my daughter wouldn’t be excited about the idea of going to summer camp.  Unlike my husband when he was younger, there aren`t very many things that scare her.  She is usually the first in line for activities such as swimming lessons, school trips, ballet lessons and other things.  So summer camp would be just another exciting adventure to her.

I haven`t looked in to a Youth Summer Camp for my daughter yet.  I`m not even sure that the camp my husband went to is still there or not.  When I get some more time, I will be checking out camps online in our area.

On another note, my husband went on to work at a summer camp for the summer as a swimming instructor.  He has fond memories of that time as well.  Perhaps my daughter will grow up loving summer camp so much that she will want to work at summer camp when she is old enough.

vacation

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Wow! I can’t believe August is over soon and September will be here! I’m not ready for the summer to go yet.  I still want to enjoy it you know. I don’t have very much time but I am going for vacation next week and hopefully the weather will cooperate. I will be going out of the country for a change.

“The condos for sale in Alexandria VA ”

Friday, July 29th, 2011

We recently moved into a new condominium type townhouse.  Actually, we moved here almost two years ago coming up this September.  I love where we live now.  It is located in a very convenient location with the grocery store just across the street, three banks also within walking distance, a recreation center with a library directly across from our house, and a gas station and convenience store right beside us.

But the best part of where we live is that everything from the outer walls outward, is taken care of by the condo corporation.  We don’t have to cut the grass, or even do any of the normal outdoor maintenance that you would expect to do with a free-hold home.  The only thing that needs taken care by us is to shovel the driveway.  And even that isn’t a big concern because our driveway is much smaller than our previous house’s.

The neighbourhood is very well suited for raising a family as well.  There are plenty of other families living in our townhouse complex with young children and they are always outside playing.  My daughter loves this and has made a lot of friends just in the two years that we have been here.

I could hardly think of a more ideal place for us to live right now.  We were very lucky to have found it.  But I sometimes think about where we’d live in different circumstances or even other countries.

Perhaps because we have found the condo lifestyle to be so convenient, we would probably choose to live in a condo elsewhere as well.  For example, I noticed that there are condos for sale in Alexandria VA.  This looks like an ideal situation for someone who wants the benefits of having everything taken care of and at the same time, taking advantage of a controlled access, gated community.

I have only lived in a few places in the world, so it is just speculation.  But if events lead to us to move to another country, this would probably be one of our first choices.

Warm place

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Well hello again! How are you these days? I hope you are all healthy and warm. It’s been really cold her on my side. As you know its winter and I can’t complain but it’s our character to always complain I guess. I just stay home and go out only when I go for grocery and doctor’s appointment. I would love to be in a warm place right now like myrtle beach sc.. Yah btw that’s in South Carolina where the best beach can be found. I’ve never been there but a lot of my friends go there for vacation and always tells me how nice the place is.
