“My Vacation Home Exchanges”

In the early, church, it was common for the believers to share everything – homes, food, and clothing: everything.  Was this the model that God and Christ wanted all of us to copy down to even today?  I wonder if that isn’t the case.

It would have been a wonderful learning experience for early believers to share everything and take their first steps in Christ together.  That seems to be the perfect environment to cultivate the attitude of not thinking of oneself more highly than one ought.  In fact that would be nearly impossible when you are asked to give your last earthly treasure to your very real and very close brother in Christ.

Of course, unless you live in a monastery, or some other form of organized sisterhood, most believers today do not have everything in common.  We have our own houses, and our own cars, and our own “stuff” (that tends to pile up in garages that are our own).  So it is very encouraging and refreshing to see that there is at least some exchange of goods between believers.

The vacation home exchanges are one such form of sharing between believers today that is going on.  The idea is to make your own home available to any believer in the world who wishes to vacation or visit your part of the world who will then provide their home likewise for you or another believer.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be the excuse of taking a vacation in order to avail yourself of this idea.   You could provide your home and live in another’s purely for the sake of church growth or expanding of the body of Christ.  It is a wonderful opportunity to see other places in the world and also meet and share with other believers in the world. ChristianHomeExchange.com is a great resource for Christians who would like to do vacation home exchanges.
