Yoga

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

I had to do a double take the other day when I looked out my front door and saw my daughter and her friend doing martial arts moves on kids play mats that they’d set out on the sidewalk in front of our house.  They probably got a lot of other curious looks from passing neighbours too.  But I left them to their exercises on the kids mats, and thought to myself that maybe that dragonfly yoga mat I saw this past summer wouldn’t be such a bad idea to get for her after all.

Day07-365

Musicians

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

It’s not going to be hard to buy presents for my daughter this year or many in the future after learning how much she loves to browse the local music shop.  She has her eye on a ukelele possibly for this Christmas.  She is just beginning to pick up some music skills by playing the recorder at school.  But there will probably be more sophisticated instruments in her repertoire in the near future, like the best traveler guitar at Musicians friend.

I think this is the beginning of a long and successful career or at least life of enjoyment of music and musical instruments for my daughter.

Electrosurgery

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Anyone who has been to the hospital knows that it can be nerve wracking at times.  You might recall, if you are in this category, screeching to a halt in front of the hospital emergency and helping your wife into the waiting room while the nurses do what nurses do.  It’s no big deal for them.  But for a new mother and father especially, it can seem like the most stressful day in their lives.

Technology has helped to ease a lot of the stress and discomfort of most trips to the hospital however.  For example, many procedures – like those involving electrosurgery – can have you in and out of the hospital within hours.  But I think there will always be a certain amount of stress involved in any trip to the hospital.

Gold coins

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

Gold seems to be a hot topic nowadays, with the economy in the tank and people looking for ways to preserve their hard-earned money.  That’s the number one reason for buying gold coins in fact, as a protections against inflation and the loss of savings in other investments.  It makes sense that way.  However that may be, there are some that believe the all your gold coins might not matter that much if things really get bad.  After all, you can’t eat a gold coin.  Or can you?
