It would be interesting to find out how many men still hand out al capone cigars at weddings.  My husband did it at ours almost 12 years ago.  And at the time, I hadn’t heard of any other grooms doing this at any of my friends weddings.  Of course, that’s hardly a sufficient sample size to tell one way or the other. I was told that this has been a traditional practice in some parts in the past.  Maybe it’s similar to the tradition of handing out cigars when a baby has arrived.  But I can’t be sure of either.
