Snowboarding wasn’t even heard of when I was growing up on the escarpment of Hamilton, Ontario.  The only things being strapped to our feet were two long and thin boards – to paraphrase what one of my high school friends used to say about skiing.  That of course didn’t stop my brothers and myself from putting them on and sailing down the carefully groomed slopes of the otherwise rocky “mountain” known locally as the escarpment.

I’m sure if we did have snowboards, we would have been strapping them on too, or maybe instead of skis altogether.  I personally prefer the long thin variety of skis to the broad one so popular these days.  But that’s only because of my earliest experiences I suspect.  I also haven’t skied in a while.  So who knows?  If I did, I might be sailing down the mountain with a snowboard instead.

I love skiing as a sport, so I often like finding out about the best places to ski – places as you would discover in 2011 ski reviews.  I just wish I had more time to get out there and soak up the sun and snow. I might check bout Taos Ski Valley when I go for my vacation next year. Now I’m just enjoying the spring and summer!
