Geek Toys & Coupon Code Promotions

Gadgets are in my husband’s blood.  He absolutely loves discovering new things promising to make life a little easier.  His motto is:  “There is always to way to do it… with the right tool”.  Fortunately for him, we are living in an age and a world of nifty gadgets.   It’s a geek’s world out there; Geek Toys are now almost as popular as Harry Potter movies.

Of course, gadgets are great.  But they are only as great as their usefulness and whether they actually work or not – whether they actually make life easier.  My husband has discovered this the hard way after purchasing great sounding tools and gadgets and then only finding out later that they are only good for the garbage heap.  I can’t count how many gadgets fill the boxes in our garage.

But there are other gadgets that make you think, “How could we ever have lived otherwise?”   With that in mind, I think that gadgets and things that promise to make life easier are not going to go out of style any time soon.  And of course the internet makes the search for new and useful tools and items so much easier than ever before.

Not only that, but with the internet, you can get some amazing deals on things you would have to pay more for if you were only trying to locate them at one of your local stores.   Things like coupons and special offer codes make the price even more attractive.  For example, there is a great Carbonite offer code circulating on the web currently.   Others are for Sierra Trading Post Coupons.  These are some of the great deals that you can take advantage of right now in your search for useful geeky gadgets.

It’s long weekend

Friday, July 29th, 2011

It’s long weekend but sad to say I’m not free at all. I will be working overtime this weekend although I get one Saturday off and then I will be working Sunday night. I’m going in tonight as well and planning to stay longer for about 12 hours. Yay! Long hours I know but I will be taking vacation soon anyway so I don’t mind!

“The condos for sale in Alexandria VA ”

Friday, July 29th, 2011

We recently moved into a new condominium type townhouse.  Actually, we moved here almost two years ago coming up this September.  I love where we live now.  It is located in a very convenient location with the grocery store just across the street, three banks also within walking distance, a recreation center with a library directly across from our house, and a gas station and convenience store right beside us.

But the best part of where we live is that everything from the outer walls outward, is taken care of by the condo corporation.  We don’t have to cut the grass, or even do any of the normal outdoor maintenance that you would expect to do with a free-hold home.  The only thing that needs taken care by us is to shovel the driveway.  And even that isn’t a big concern because our driveway is much smaller than our previous house’s.

The neighbourhood is very well suited for raising a family as well.  There are plenty of other families living in our townhouse complex with young children and they are always outside playing.  My daughter loves this and has made a lot of friends just in the two years that we have been here.

I could hardly think of a more ideal place for us to live right now.  We were very lucky to have found it.  But I sometimes think about where we’d live in different circumstances or even other countries.

Perhaps because we have found the condo lifestyle to be so convenient, we would probably choose to live in a condo elsewhere as well.  For example, I noticed that there are condos for sale in Alexandria VA.  This looks like an ideal situation for someone who wants the benefits of having everything taken care of and at the same time, taking advantage of a controlled access, gated community.

I have only lived in a few places in the world, so it is just speculation.  But if events lead to us to move to another country, this would probably be one of our first choices.

I miss my daughter

I really miss my daughter even if we have chance to talk on the phone. It’s just different when you see her in person you know. I can hold her kiss her and give her a big hug!

“The FSU football tickets”

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

My husband grew up around a family that didn’t follow sports other than the occasional hockey game – and that only during the play-off season.  Maybe it wasn’t in his blood.  His brothers were not much into team sports either and the only type of sport that our family has participated in has traditionally involved the outdoors, bicycles, kayaks and much earlier waterskis.

Actually, I was just reminded that my husband did tryout for the middle school basketball team, and played in a few games, but that was short-lived.  As I said, his family was more wilderness sports oriented.  The only other exception was my husband’s sister who was active in high school as a competitive swimmer.  Overall, the family has been most interested in individual competing events if any and not at all team sports.

However, my husband did take some interest in professional baseball, as in major league.  He followed it for a while a few years ago but then suddenly lost interest.

I think if he had the opportunity to go and see a sporting event – for example if someone happened to hand him FSU football tickets – he would probably be interested enough to go.  But again, it’s not something that he would necessarily go out of his way to do.  It might be kind of fun for me to go as well.

So our family is not really the sports kind, and if you were to name famous athletes, such as Doak Campbell, you are most likely just to get a blank stare.  Sports  just isn’t in my husband’s family’s blood.  It’s a little unfortunate because I was competitive in track and field when I was younger and I might have enjoyed attending and being a fan of sports as I’m older now and less active.
